Project 365 Update

Today is day 321 of my Project 365. As the year winds down, it is becoming harder to find photographs that capture the day. But today was not one of those days. I had to go to campus and take some photos for class and came back with one I am very happy with:

Index of Apple Ads and Brochures

Don’t click on this link unless you’re a hardcore Apple geek and have lots of time on your hands. It includes high-resolution images of every Apple ad from 1976 to 2002. Including ads for things I didn’t know existed.

The Hottest Case Mod Ever

Flickr user wolphcry has posted some pics of his very slick MacBook, which now looks like a little Mac Pro. Very nice.

Apple’s Lessons From the Newton

I ran across an article today on Roughly Drafted titled “Newton Lessons for Apple’s New Platform.” It’s an interesting read, especially considering it’s two years old. The article discusses the failure of Apple’s Newton project of the early 1990s. The Newton was Apple’s first foray into the PDA/handheld computer, and frankly, it was not a [...]

Apple Enterprise: Is the Sky Falling?

Al Shipp, Apple’s senior vice president of enterprise sales is retiring, and isn’t being replaced. Lots of people have cried out that Apple is moving away from enterprise-level hardware and software. Macworld’s John Welch: But honestly, every time I see that meme go around, I have to wonder why people would think that. Apple has [...]

Time Machine Tips

Erica over at Ars has come up with some useful tips on Time Machine backups, and has raised an interesting point: Looking for off-site solutions is an important part of data security. iPods Get Ready for New Earbuds

A while back, Apple announced new earbuds with a mic (like the iPhone’s earbuds) for iPods. And while the earbuds haven’t shown up yet (being promised in October), Apple has dropped updated software for the new iPod Nano and Classic to turn on support for the in-line mic. Apple: The control capsule located on the [...]

Belkin Reinvents the Wheel

Belkin announced today their “Move to Mac” USB Cable + Migration Assitant package: Unlike existing products where you have to drag and drop specific files you want to transfer, the Switch-to-Mac Cable-with its easy-to-use Migration Assistant-automatically moves your music, movies, photos, files, and Internet preferences, making the transition from PC to Mac as seamless as [...]

iPhone Development… On Windows?

Ars, on the development of Besiegement (iTunes Link), a tower defense game for the iPhone, made (mostly) on a PC: The PC development side consisted of two OpenGL windows representing landscape and portrait views. These windows translated mouse movements into “touches,” similar to fingers. The right mouse button simulated a second finger, similar to the [...]
