Retina MacBook Pro Requires Separate Test for Servicing

The MacBook Pro with Retina display is a unique machine. It’s Apple’s showcase of where the company is headed with its portable line of computers.

It’s chassis is unique, with lots of cutting-edge components crammed in a very thin space.

Turns out, that makes it unique to work on. Apple’s released a separate exam for the new machine, which is required by both Mac Geniuses and Apple-Authorized Service Provider-employed technicians.

Apples set up two different self-guided courses for technicians:

  • MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) self-paced training course
  • Embedded Battery Safety self-paced training course

The exam is completed online, and all questions related to “embedded battery safety” must be answered correctly to pass the exam.
