After all these years, the Newton design language still speaks volumes to me.

Speaking of iPhone 4 Reviews...
TUAW has a nice roundup of posted reviews, as does Mac Rumors. The guys over at Boy Genius Reports have a great hands-on, as does Engadget — coupled with Joshua Topolsky’s excellent review of the device.
A few things have struck me as I’ve read through these reviews — that this phone feels as good as it looks, the screen really is as awesome as Steve said it is and that the box is really, really ugly.
On Toy Story 3
Which is all to say that the first eighty minutes of Toy Story 3 make up as funny, rousing, surprising, and exciting an adventure as you’re likely to see all year. And it’s also to say that nothing in those first eighty minutes prepared me for the final fifteen minutes, which I spent bawling, as did every moviegoer around me. The tears streamed down my face as they had not since… well, since I saw Up. And then before that, the only time I cried at a movie was during… well, it was during Monsters, Inc. And so I wasn’t precisely surprised to have my waterworks turned on by a bunch of fucking toys, but still.
On iOS App Icons
It’s simply not possible to create excellent, detailed icons which can be arbitrarily scaled to very small dimensions while preserving clarity. Small icons are caricatures: they exaggerate some features, drop others, and align shapes to a sharp grid. Even if all icons could be executed as vectors, the largest size would never scale down well.
He’s done a great job at showing just how complex this all is.
iFixit Takes Apart New Mac mini
Most impressive, but the need for a special tool to loosen the logic board is lame. I suppose it’s better than tearing into the Mac mini with a set of putty knives.
Mac mini Gets Major Overhaul
The removal bottom panel reminds me a lot of the iMac G4. The days of cracking these things open with putty knives are over.
Update: Engadget has a hands-on. The new Mac mini doesn’t look much bigger than Airport Extreme.
Up Close with Apple’s Retina Display
Robert Scoble snagged this photo of the new iPhone’s display with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II during Apple’s hands-on event at WWDC last week. It looks amazing — be sure to view the original 5616 x 3744 shot.
Classic Macintosh Turned iPad Stand
Holy cow. I’ve got a dead SE that is about to get hacked into pieces.
iPad, Meet Clamshell iBook
Oh boy, this is sweet.
WebOS UI Designer Poached by Apple
WebOS interface designer Rich Dellinger has left the company to rejoin his former employer: Apple.
Dellinger, who was instrumental in developing Palm’s core Mojo app framework, as well as the webOS notification system, has returned to Apple, a company he previously worked for from 1999 to 2006. His new position: Senior user interface designer. Just what, exactly, he’ll be doing in that capacity remains to be seen, but I imagine it will have something to do with Apple’s newly rebranded iOS and its system alerts.
