iChat AV cannot use a DV camera as an input device on computers with a PowerPC G3 microprocessor. Digital camcorders are the most common type of DV camera.
iSight is not affected by this issue. However, iSight does require a 600MHz G3 processor or higher. See http://www.apple.com/isight for more information.
