WALL-E may be my favorite Pixar film, and I (generally) like Christopher Nolan’s work. Good times.

Dropbox responds to user leak⇢
Anton Mityagin:
Recent news articles claiming that Dropbox was hacked aren’t true. Your stuff is safe. The usernames and passwords referenced in these articles were stolen from unrelated services, not Dropbox. Attackers then used these stolen credentials to try to log in to sites across the internet, including Dropbox. We have measures in place to detect suspicious login activity and we automatically reset passwords when it happens.
Dropbox user credentials stolen⇢
Peter Bright at Ars:
Popular online locker service Dropbox appears to have been hacked. A series of posts have been made to Pastebin purporting to contain login credentials for hundreds of Dropbox accounts, with the poster claiming that altogether 6,937,081 account credentials have been compromised.
I’d reset your Dropbox password, even if you have two-step authentication enabled on your account.
HiRise for iPhone⇢
For years, I’ve used an iPhone dock at my desk. In addition to keeping the screen where I can see it easily, and a vertical iPhone is much quiter on the desk if it vibrates than one laying flat.
However, with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple didn’t release a first-party dock. This Twelve South dock is a little fiddly to assemble, but it’s rock-solid and really adjustable, so even with a case, iPhones fit easily. I’ve got one on my desk now, and if you’ve used a dock in the past, you should check it out.

On the Moto 360 and battery life⇢
David Pierce at The Verge:
This watch just happens to do more than tell time.
Until, that is, it doesn’t do anything at all. That happens about 12 hours after I take the watch off its charger, a cool black wireless dock that the 360 slots into sideways. Motorola says the 360’s battery lasts a day, but I haven’t seen it last that long yet. I don’t expect a smartwatch to last weeks or years, but it ought to be able to last a day and a night no matter how much I use it. My watch now dies before my phone does, and that’s unacceptable. I’ve already spent too much time wearing a dead Moto 360, and good-looking a bracelet as it is, that’s not what I’m spending $249 for.

I love the What-If strips; this may be my new favorite.
FCC investigating LTE throttling⇢
Verizon and others will have to answer for their throttling of some customers’ data. This should be fun to watch.
Synology NAS systems under ransomware attacks⇢
Yikes.
Sort Squarespace’s Category or Tag list alphabetically⇢
I’ve been very happy with 512 Pixels running on Squarespace, but the platform’s lack of options when it comes to sorting a list of categories has always left me a little annoyed when I see my 404 page. Thanks to jQuery and this script from Ben Morrow, my categories are nice and alphabetical, as God intended.
Verizon to throttle some LTE users⇢
Oh, excuse me. The company is introducing “network optimizations:”
Starting in October 2014, Verizon Wireless will extend its network optimization policy to the data users who: fall within the top 5 percent of data users on our network, have fulfilled their minimum contractual commitment, and are on unlimited plans using a 4G LTE device. They may experience slower data speeds when using certain high bandwidth applications, such as streaming high-definition video or during real-time, online gaming, and only when connecting to a cell site when it is experiencing heavy demand. (Note: Does not currently apply to government or business accounts that have signed a major account agreement.)
