Learn more about DropTask.

Last updated: September 17, 2026

The Basics

  • It has no accounts, sign-in, or servers of its own.
  • It has no analytics, usage statistics, or crash reporting of its own.
  • It contains no advertising and no third-party SDKs.
  • It never asks for your location and does not track it.
  • It does not sell, share, or transfer any data to anyone.

Locally-Stored Information

  • Your settings. The default list, default times, app icon, the Mac keyboard shortcut, and the home and work addresses you type or pick.
  • A small cache for the widgets. The names of your Reminders lists and today’s remaining count, so the widgets, complication, and share sheet can show them without opening the app.
  • Nothing else. The reminders you create are saved straight into Apple Reminders. DropTask keeps no copy of them.

Permissions

  • Reminders. Required. DropTask reads your lists so you can pick one, adds the reminders you create, and counts what is due today for the widgets and watch complication. Without this access, it cannot save anything.
  • Contacts. Optional. If you choose a contact card, DropTask reads only the home and work addresses on it, plus your first name for the address titles, so @home and @work match the places Reminders uses. It reads no other contacts or fields. It keeps only those addresses, the titles, and a reference to the card so it can follow your edits. You can type addresses manually instead and never grant this.

Locations

  • Location lookup. When you attach a place to a reminder, DropTask sends that address or place name (for example, @Apple Store), and your saved home or work address as the search center, to Apple’s Maps service to turn it into map coordinates that Reminders can use. This goes to Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. DropTask doesn’t send it anywhere else or keep the results.

Other Apple Services

  • Apple Reminders. Once a reminder is saved, Apple syncs it across your devices through iCloud like any other reminder. That is Apple’s system, not DropTask’s.
  • watchOS. Today’s count passes between your iPhone and Apple Watch over Apple’s device-to-device connection, not over the internet.

That is the complete list. DropTask makes no other network requests.

Children

DropTask does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at 512pixels.net/droptask/privacy-policy and in the app, with a new date. Because the app collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare and minor.
