Apple Announces iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches
There’s a lot of news to digest, but I’m a little sad the new Apple Watch doesn’t have the rumored flat sides and that we didn’t get new AirPods.
However, the new iPad mini and iPhone 13 Pro Max will keep me warm (and broke) at night.
Steve Wozniak’s New Space Company⇢
In a brief tweet yesterday, Steve Wozniak announced he is co-founding a new private space company.
The simple tweet and linked YouTube video provided few details about the company, Privateer. The short video features a combination of historic and modern videos of both rockets and the solar system (and a clip that vaguely resembles a Tesla robot on fire). In the YouTube description, they say Privateer space is “working to keep space safe and accessible to all humankind.”
‘A Shining Example of Kindness and Decency’⇢
Jonathan Zeller, writing at McSweeny’s about Ted Lasso:
Ted Lasso was the most surprising show of 2020. In its debut season, the plucky underdog sitcom delighted an audience tired of pandemic fears, political conflicts, and natural disasters. They retreated into a comforting world in which a single good person—Ted Lasso, an American football coach played by the charming Jason Sudeikis—overcomes the doubts and malign intentions of strangers not by destroying them, but by transforming them into better versions of themselves. As viewers, we felt a similar process take place in our own living rooms. Well, most of us did. Some detractors revealed their true nature as vessels for unadulterated evil who deserve pain because they can’t let us enjoy one thing on this awful planet, which got that way thanks to monsters like them.

Files and folders have been with the Mac user since the very beginning, but today, file management has gotten a lot more complicated.
We tackle the topics of tags, search, backups, cloud services and more, all in the hope of untangling the mess that storage has become for so many.

What Does It All Mean?⇢
John Voorhees has an epic look at last week’s injunction. It’ll take a long time to sort all of this out.
Kbase Article of the Weekend: Exposure to Vibrations, Like Those Generated by High-Powered Motorcycle Engines, Might Impact iPhone Cameras⇢
Apple just published a new — and very specific — support article:
The OIS and closed-loop AF systems in iPhone are designed for durability. However, as is the case with many consumer electronics that include systems like OIS, long-term direct exposure to high-amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges may degrade the performance of these systems and lead to reduced image quality for photos and videos. It is recommended to avoid exposing your iPhone to extended high-amplitude vibrations.
