Aaaaand I’m already bored with this news.

The Candle’s Burning at Both Ends, Believe Me⇢
Pardon the self-link, but this was me, back in July:
This website isn’t my full-time job, but it likes to think that it is.
Currently, I’m under the gun with some pretty big pressures at work. So much so, that 512 has been collecting dust for a couple of weeks. It’s frustrating being so busy I don’t have time to read what’s clogging up my RSS and Instapaper accounts or write what’s bouncing around my head. I have to remember that my day job pays the bills, not this, so if things are little quiet for the coming weeks, please forgive me.
The Lego Rolling Ball Clock⇢
If it weren’t for all of the clinking and the graph I would need to use to tell time on it, this clock would be on my desk.
Paper Users Waste Everyone’s Time, Duh⇢
Alexandra Samuel at Harvard Business Review’s “Blog Network:”
I knew right away, when you walked in here with a paper notebook — a paper notebook! — I realized that this meeting was not going to be a good use of our time.
You’d make better use of your time if you took your notes in digital form, ideally in an access-anywhere digital notebook like Evernote that makes retrieval a snap. If you had that, I could shoot you the link of the book I want you to read, or the contact card of the person you want to meet. And if you planned to act any of the ideas or outcomes from this meeting, you would want to pop the follow-up tasks into your task management program.
On Breaking Bad’s Cars⇢
Patrick George:
Lots of great television shows will highlight an awesome car or two, even if they aren’t necessarily “car shows.” Though you may not realize it at first, Breaking Bad — AMC’s uniquely American story about a cancer-stricken high school teacher who goes into business cooking and selling meth — deserves to be on that list as well.
Once I read this article, I realized just how perfect most of the car choices are — especially Walt’s Aztek.
The i7 Performa 200⇢
This is one of the best stuff-a-new-Mac-into-an-old-one projects I’ve seen.
CBS Bans Superbowl Ad Attacking Its BIggest Sponsors⇢
Will Burns at Forbes:
CBS banned SodaStream’s Super Bowl spot because, apparently, it was too much of a direct hit to two of its biggest sponsors, Coke and Pepsi.
Please pause and read that sentence again.
Bill Gates Goes on ‘The Colbert Report’⇢
Every time I hear him speak, my respect for Bill Gates grows. The world needs more people like this guy.
Twitter Data ‘Accessed;’ 250,000 User Passwords Reset⇢
Bob Lord:
This week, we detected unusual access patterns that led to us identifying unauthorized access attempts to Twitter user data. We discovered one live attack and were able to shut it down in process moments later. However, our investigation has thus far indicated that the attackers may have had access to limited user information – usernames, email addresses, session tokens and encrypted/salted versions of passwords – for approximately 250,000 users.
Unwavering Optimism⇢
David Banks at Wired is making my eyes all wet.
OmniFocus 2 Unveiled⇢
At an event in San Francisco last night, the OmniGroup unveiled OmniFocus 2, a giant update to the venerable GTD app for the Mac.
The new version looks great. While I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet, it looks like the guys at the OmniGroup have kept OmniFocus as powerful as ever, but in a much better looking and powerful design.
The new version the same as the old — $79.99 — but with a twist:
On the Theoretical iPad mini with Retina display
Word has it that the rumored new AppleTV will rock a die-shrunk Apple 5X processor.
A process-shrunk A5X probably won’t contain faster CPUs, but it would be smaller, cooler, and more efficient.
It’s obvious, in retrospect, what this is probably for: the Retina iPad Mini.
As Marco explains, the A5X could drive the display required for such a tablet, and keep the cost down, which is vital on the thinner-than-normal margins Apple enjoys on the iPad mini.
