I agree with Brett’s list 100 percent. I’d pay him for this client if he built it.
That said, with some clever TextExpander snippets and Byword, I’m pretty happy with my setup as it stands today.
What I’m Reading This Month
This is what’s on my Kindle this month:
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire — This is my first time to read the Potter series, and I’m loving it.
- Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood — A great book by Michael Lewis for new (or previously-used) dads. It’s painfully honest and amazingly funny.
- Insanely Simple: The Obsession That Drives Apple’s Success — Ken Segall tells behind-the-scenes stories from his time working with Steve Jobs on Apple’s advertising campaigns. Even if you read the biography, this is worth the time.

On Self-Control
Paul Miller, on leaving the Internet:
I feel like I’ve only examined the internet up close. It’s been personal and pervasive in my life for over a decade, and I spend on average 12+ hours a day directly at an internet-connected terminal (laptop, iPad, Xbox), not to mention all the ambient internet my smartphone keeps me aware of.
I’m not sure what “examined the internet up close” means, but I’ve emphasized the real problem in that paragraph–instead of removing yourself from internet access entirely, how about just, you know, cutting back?
The MacRumors Blood Drive
MacRumors is pleased to announce the third annual MacRumors Blood Drive, for the month of May 2012. We encourage forum members and site visitors to donate blood or platelets at any hospital or blood donation center in their city. We want to increase the number of life-saving donations by our online community for the benefit of people in their real-world communities. We also ask donors to post photos or stories in our Blood Drive thread. Saving a life is its own reward but accepting recognition as a donor helps spread the message to others. Please join us in showing the spirit of our community by donating blood or platelets this month and letting us know. Details are in the MacRumors 2012 Blood Drive thread.

Paul Miller, on Notes and Text
His text setup is pretty similar to mine — including using the Simplenote app on iOS, with some nice Dropbox apps on the side.
