Making Flickr Awesome Again ⇢
Adrianne Jeffries at The Verge has a great interview up with Markus Spiering, the service’s lead at Yahoo. In it, he says:
The end goal for the platform is to provide users with the possibility that, as long as they have their photos on Flickr, their photos are everywhere.
That’s a bold goal, but one I can get behind. I hope they can pull it off.

Rebooting Project 365
In both 2008 and 2009, I completed a “Project 365,” which is a year-long series of photos, one shot, edited and posted each day.
I’ve decided to this again for 2013. I’ve gotten away from my photography over the last two or three years for lots of reasons, and I think this will be a great way to get back on the horse with it.
Incidentally, this meant re-joining Flickr. (I’ve come to regret shutting down my account a few years ago.) While I’m not thrilled with Instagram’s new Terms of Service, I’m not leaving the service. However, Instagram is not the right service for this kind of project.

Better Camera to Dropbox Uploading ⇢
This app makes my whole Dropbox/Hazel/photo thing even more automatic. I just wish it could delete photos from my Camera Roll once I imported them to Dropbox.

I bought the black iPhone, but after looking at these photos, manhandling a white one last night and living in constant fear of nicking the fragile black aluminum, I think I might be regretting it.

Since posting yesterday about my new Dropbox-based photo management system, I’ve gotten several repsonses like this one from @sgo on App.net:
The one thing I don’t like about managing photos that way is you’re paying for storage twice…Dropbox and your backup service.
I pay $10/month for a 100 GB Dropbox Pro account. My photos currently take up just shy of 38 GB of that space (which is actually 118 GB thanks to referrals). If I ever need to pay for the 200 GB plan, I have no problem doing so.
