Earlier today, we wrapped up Relay FM’s annual fundraiser for St. Jude. This yeah’s campaign was a massive success, raising $456,000 for the hospital. This is $141,000 more than last year, which is a mind-blowing. Thank you to everyone who donated, as well as the Relay folks who took part, and the guys at ATP and John at Daring Fireball for helping share the campaign with their audiences. I love that the wider Apple community joins us each year, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve in 2021.

2020 Relay FM Podcastathon for St. Jude⇢
On September 18, from 2-8 PM Eastern, Myke Hurley and I will be hosting the second annual Podcastathon for St. Jude, raising money for an amazing institution that treats children without their families ability to pay.
That work begins today. We’d love to have you join us in raising $315,000 for St. Jude. The Relay FM community really rallied around this last year, and I think 2020’s campaign will be even better.
Jason Snell Launches "20 Macs for 2020"⇢
This morning, my buddy Jason Snell is launching a new project: “20 Macs for 2020,” in which he is covering what he thinks are the most notable Macs. The list will include good, weird and even bad computers.
He’s kicking off the list with the Power Mac G5.
In addition to a new post every Monday, 20 Macs for 2020 also lives as a podcast on Relay FM. On each episode, Snell talks to a group of Mac watchers and enthusiasts about the machine in question.
Introducing Bear Left (Right Frog)⇢
Today, I’m launching a new podcast on The Incomparable with my friend Quinn Rose. Each month, we’ll be watching and re-capping a Muppet film.

Naturally, we’ll be going in chronological order, so up first is The Muppet Movie:
We’re searching for the Rainbow Connection in our first episode all about the 1979 film that turned a TV phenomena into a decades-long movie franchise: The Muppet Movie. Which jokes are still perfect in 2020, and which ones required a search engine to get? How does Kermit ride a bicycle? Where is the line between a frog on the menu and our good friend Kermit? We are able to answer some of these questions.
Relay FM: Moving Forward⇢
Yesterday, Myke and I published an open letter of sorts, outlining some changes we are making in the business:
As the global pandemic unfolds, no business is unaffected. Understandably, many companies are freezing their marketing budgets. This means that advertising-supported businesses, including Relay FM, need to adapt. That’s why, over the next months, you’ll see us focus much more on creating new content for our loyal listeners.
We introduced the Relay FM membership program a few years ago, as a way of letting listeners support their favorite shows directly.
Introducing Mac Madness 2020
It’s a weird time in the world, so I thought it would be fun to pick — as a community — our favorite Mac.
As it is March, this naturally took the form of a bracket:
Here’s how this works. I’ll be hosting five rounds of voting over the next couple of weeks, and we should have a winner on Friday, April 3. I’ll announce new rounds here on the blog and on Twitter. You can view all the Mac Madness 2020 blog posts in one place, on this page.
Final Call for Shirts⇢
Today is the last day to snag one of this year’s 512 Pixels shirts. If you have already ordered, thank you for your support!

512 Pixels Shirts and Stickers: It’s hip to be...⇢
Sometimes coming up with merchandise ideas is hard; other times, the idea comes to you while just walking around the grocery store.

That’s what happened this time, and after some extensive market research that included sending mockups to some friends over iMessage, I am excited to share the new 512 Pixels shirt, available in a bunch of colors, which you can see at the bottom of this post.
The shirt is available for preorder for just 14 days, and even if there isn’t a WWDC this year, you’ll look great this summer in one of them.
512 Pixels Sponsorships Open for 2020⇢
If you have a product, app or service that you want to get in front of the lovely nerds who like reading 512 Pixels, get in touch.
Over $312,000⇢

We’ve wrapped up our annual St. Jude fundraiser 1 and the number raised is simply staggering: over $312,000
It has been incredibly humbling to see this community to rally around this cause, and I can tell you first-hand how much it means to the families at St. Jude. Thank you for not only the amazing amount of money raised, but for joining in the work of saving kids without regard to their ability to pay.
The One Where I Announce I’m Joining Mac Power Users
When I first started listening to podcasts, one of the first shows I subscribed to was Mac Power Users. Over the years, I’ve learned a ton from David and Katie. There are many parts of my daily computing workflow that I first heard about on MPU.
In 2015, MPU joined Relay FM. In our announcement, I wrote:
I’ve listened to Apple podcasts for a long time, and with over 250 episodes published, Mac Power Users has been a constant listen of mine for years.
